Luke Stewart Reflects on 2013 Season and Looks Ahead to Another Exciting Season in 2014

When the 2013 season started, Luke Stewart was just entering his sophomore season in the 358 Modified division. They had purchased a brand new Hig-Fab Chassis over the previous winter, and were looking to hit the track at Brockville Speedway and improve from their rookie campaign. They raced weekly at the BOS, and also raced at Mohawk International Raceway on occasion.

As the year progressed, Luke became more and more comfortable with his Hig-Fab Chassis. In the final month of the season, Stewart posted a pair of top five finishes and the team learned a lot. Going into next year, the team has already updated their car to a 2014 chassis, and they are eager to get the new season underway next Spring.

“We had a few goods runs last season, especially towards the end of the year”, says Stewart. “I really enjoy driving these Hig-Fab cars, and Jerry (Higbie) and everyone there has been great to work with. I am excited to get the season underway in 2014”.

Stewart plans to race at Brockville Speedway full time in 2014, with hopes of also running a few select events at other tracks. They have set a goal of improving on their ninth place finish in points at Brockville, and also hope to win their first ever feature event in 2014.

Luke would like to thank all of his sponsors for their generosity and support during the 2013 racing season. They include Fort Glass, M.A. Barr Service Station Maintenance, RW Electric, McCoy Bus Tours, Penny Blake of Remax Realty Kingston, Southeastern Telecommunication Services, Number One Speed Equipment, Stewart Speed Supplies and Finish Line Web Design. Also a very special thanks goes out to Wayne and Donna Smith for all of their support. We thank you all for your support and look forward to the 2014 season.

Luke Stewart Scores Best Career Finish at Brockville Speedway With Impressive Fourth Place Result on Saturday Night

After scoring their first top five finish of the season at Brockville Speedway just a couple weeks ago, Luke Stewart and his team gained some confidence, proving that they can run up front and contend for wins amongst the elite drivers in the 358 Modified division. With the season winding down, Stewart was hoping to continue that success this past weekend and carry it through to the end of the season.

After a tough fifth place finish in the qualifying heat race on Saturday night at the BOS, Stewart made some final adjustments to keep up with the changing track conditions that were further enhanced with the Sprint Cars on hand. Once the 30 lap feature started, it was clear that the changes were in the right direction as Luke rolled off the starting grid from sixth place and quickly worked his way into the top five. The race went caution free through the opening 19 laps, before two consecutive cautions on lap 19 and 20. When the race resumed, Luke was up to the third position and looking strong. Tire wear was starting to become an issue as the final laps counted down, and it was clear that Luke was starting to lose grip, but as the checkered flag fell to end the race, Stewart was in the fourth position, posting his best ever Brockville Speedway finish.

“We are extremely happy with our run tonight”, says Stewart after the race. “This Hig-Fab car has been really good lately, and I can’t thank them enough for all their help as we try to get this car dialed in. Hopefully we can have a good week next week to end the season strong”.

This coming weekend, Luke will be back in action at Brockville Speedway on Saturday for the final points night at the track. It will be a 50 lap Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series event. Going into the night, Luke remains solidly in the top ten, and will clinch a top ten overall position just by starting Saturday night’s feature.

We invite everyone to stop by the Finish Line Web Design merchandise trailer located behind the main grandstand at Brockville Speedway to purchase your Luke Stewart t-shirts. Following this weekend, the final event of the 2013 season for Luke Stewart will come on Saturday, September 21st at Brighton Speedway as part of their annual Applefest Weekend.

Luke would like to thank all of his sponsors for their generosity as we enter the 2013 racing season. They include Fort Glass, M.A. Barr Service Station Maintenance, RW Electric, McCoy Bus Tours, Penny Blake of Remax Realty Kingston, Southeastern Telecommunication Services, Number One Speed Equipment, Stewart Speed Supplies and Finish Line Web Design. On Saturday night, Luke was back at Brockville looking for a strong finish. With just a few weeks left in the regular season, Stewart is looking to finish the year strong, and solidify his position amongst the top ten in track points. The night started off with a second place finish in the qualifier, and after a few adjustments he was ready for the 30 lap main event. After leading the first couple laps, Stewart soon settled into fourth place and maintained that position through lap ten. Through the remaining 20 laps, Luke continued to hold a top five position, and crossed the finish line with his best finish of the season with a solid fifth place result.

Luke Stewart Scores Second Consecutive Brockville Speedway Top Ten

With the 2013 racing season rapidly winding down, Luke Stewart and his race team are hoping to secure their spot amongst the top ten in points at both Mohawk International Raceway and Brockville Speedway. Their weekend schedule consisted of events at both tracks, and they were hoping for a good weekend of racing.

Despite a gloomy Friday afternoon forecast, the rain held off most of the day, and Stewart made the trip to Hogansburg, New York from their Sydenham, Ontario home, hoping that Mother Nature would be on their side for the night’s action at Mohawk International Raceway. The rain had started as they arrived at the track and a decision to cancel the night’s program was an obvious one.

At Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, Luke started his qualifying heat race from fourth place and maintained that position through the eight lap event. After attending an on-track autograph session with his fellow drivers, Stewart was ready for battle in the 30 lap main event. He started from the fifth position, and ran solidly inside the top 10 over the entire distance and drove his Hig-Fab Chassis to the second consecutive top ten finish at Brockville.

“The car was pretty good again tonight”, explains Stewart after the race. “We are still just a little bit off as we try to figure this car out, but its getting closer to where we want it to be”.

This coming weekend, Luke will be back in action at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and will return to Brockville Speedway on Saturday. We invite everyone to stop by the Finish Line Web Design merchandise trailer located behind the main grandstand at Brockville Speedway to purchase your Luke Stewart t-shirts.

Luke Stewart Scores Top Ten Finish at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night; Currently Top Ten in Points at Both MIR and BOS

It has been a bit of a tumultuous season for Luke Stewart and his 358 Modified race team. They have had some strong finishes, but have struggled at times trying to dial in their 2013 Hig Fab Chassis. This past weekend, Luke was back at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York on Friday night and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.

At Mohawk Raceway, Stewart began the night with a fourth place finish in his qualifying heat race. He started the 25 lap feature from the third position, but struggled throughout the race. At the checkered flag, he was in the 12th position.

Although Friday night was a struggle, the team was optimistic that Saturday night would be better. Just a couple weeks ago, the led the first half of the race, en route to a solid sixth place finish, and were hopeful that they could be even better this time around. Luke finished second in his heat race, and returned to the pit area to get the car dialed in for the night’s 30 lap feature. Through the first 10 laps of the race, Luke was inside the top five, but struggled over the next 10 lap segment and was running tenth as they crossed the line at lap 20. When the final caution was displayed on lap 26th, Stewart had made his way back up to eighth place, and crossed the finish line with a ninth place result.

Despite the up and down season, Luke is currently inside the top ten in points at both weekly tracks. As we enter the second half of the 2013 season, Stewart will be looking to improve on his consistency and will be aiming to establish himself as a weekly top five and top ten contender.

Saturday night at Brockville is also driver autograph night, giving race fans a chance to get up close to the cars and drivers during the on track session during the intermission.

Luke Stewart Gets Best Finish of the Season With Impressive Sixth Place Finish at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night

After struggling the first few weeks of the 2013 season, Luke Stewart and his team were back in action this past weekend hoping to get things turned around. The first stop on the weekend schedule was Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York followed by Saturday night’s visit to Brockville Speedway.

At Mohawk, Stewart finished his qualifying heat race from the fifth position, and returned to the pit area to make some adjustments to their Hig-Fab chassis before the 25 lap main event. Luke started from the fourth position and maintained a top ten position through the first half of the race. As the final laps counted down, Stewart struggled and ended up with his second consecutive 11th place finish at Mohawk Raceway.

On Saturday night, Stewart had a strong second place finish in his qualifier and the team was hopeful that they would have a good night. Luke started from the outside of the front row, and blasted off to an early lead. After leading the first half of the race, Stewart fell back just a little as several cautions allowed other cars to remain in striking distance. As the dust settled, Stewart ended the night with a solid sixth place finish.

“The car was really good tonight, the best that we have had all season so far”, claims Stewart after the race. “If really is unfortunate that we had so many cautions there, as it was hard to get away from the field, but overall it was really good night, and hopefully something we can build on for the rest of the season”.

Luke Stewart Looking for Some Good Luck After Early Season Misfortunes at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway

Although Luke Stewart hasn’t posted the results that they had been hoping for when the 2013 season began just over a month ago, they have continued to work hard dialing in their brand new Hig-Fab chassis, and are confident that success will soon be found as we approach the first week of summer. This past weekend the team traveled to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and on to Brockville Speedway on Saturday evening.

At Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, Stewart started his heat race from fourth position and ran a great race, finishing in third place. Luke lined up for the 25 lap main event from outside of row two in fourth position but the setup just wasn’t as acceptable to the dry slick conditions as they had hoped, and Stewart dropped outside the top ten. As the race ended, Luke crossed the finish line in 11th place.

On Saturday night, Luke and his team made their way back to Brockville Speedway, and they started the night off well with a win in their qualifying heat race. In the 30 lap feature, he started from outside of the first row, and settled into second place on the original start and held that position through the opening ten laps of the race. Contact from another car on lap 11 affected the handling immensely, and suddenly the strong run they had going was fading. Stewart crossed the finish line with a 14th place finish.

This coming weekend, Luke Stewart will return to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and back to Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday. Stewart currently sits 7th in points at Mohawk Raceway, and at Brockville he is 12th overall.

Luke Stewart Has a Rough Night at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night

After last weekend’s top ten finish at Brockville Speedway, Luke Stewart and his team were ready to get back to business this past Saturday night looking to build on that and gain some momentum as the season progresses. The team also had planned on racing on Friday night at Mohawk International Raceway for the 50 lap Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” Series opener.

Stewart had hoped to race at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night in Hogansburg, New York for the first round of the Frenchie’s 358 Modified Series and Memorial Cup race, but the rain that began on Thursday lasted well into Friday and the track officials were forced to cancel their program. The team shifted their attention to getting the car set up for the following night at Brockville.

The first few laps of the night started out well for Stewart at Brockville on Saturday night, as he took the lead at the start of his qualifying heat race held the top spot through the first four laps of the eight lap event. Coming around turn three and four to complete lap five, the steering locked up, sending Stewart well off the track. He was able to continue, but at the rear of the field for the restart, but unable to make up the lost track position. He started the feature from 20th and fought the car for the entire 30 lap distance, and brought the car home with an 18th place finish.

“It certainly wasn’t the run that we were hoping for. We just fought the car all night trying to get the handle on it”, says Stewart after the race. “We will continue to work hard and get it figured out:.

This coming weekend, Stewart will return to Mohawk International Raceway for the postponed Memorial Cup/Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” 358 Modified Series opener, and will be back at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night for another 50 lap feature in the first race of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series.

Luke Stewart’s Strong Start on Opening Night De-Railed By Early Race Incident at Brockville Speedway

Despite the early morning rain and the unseasonably cool temperatures, Luke Stewart and his race team started the 2013 season at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night. This was the first race in their brand new Hig-Fab Chassis, and they were optimistic going into the night’s events.

In the eight lap qualifying heat race, Stewart started from the outside of the front row, and grabbed the lead on lap two and went on to win the preliminary event. He started on the front row again in the 30 lap feature race, but an early incident sent Luke to the rear of the field. Luke rebounded to post a 13th place finish, out of 27 cars that started the race, but the disappointment of having a car capable of much more still remains.

“The car worked really good, especially in the heat race”, says Stewart after the race. “Unfortunately we got caught up in a couple of incidents, and we had to come from the back. We will take it and move up, and hope that next week is better”.

This coming week, Stewart will be at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for their 2013 season opener, and will return to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night for round two of the season.

Luke would like to thank all of his sponsors for their generosity as we enter the 2013 racing season.
